The tenth book from R.D. Publications continues the publisher's coverage of narrow gauge railroads in Colorado and New Mexico. The book tells the story of the narrow gauge routes of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad from Durango, Colorado, to Chama, New Mexico, and on to Antonito, Alamosa, and Salida Colorado.

This Third Edition of the Chili Line includes 16 new pages, featuring photographs and information that have come to light since the book was first published in 1996. One of the D&RGW's most beloved branches, the 100-mile-plus Santa Fe Branch connected the New Mexico capital to the Rio Grande's San Juan Extension at Antonito, Colorado, from 1881 until 1941.

The book also includes more than 50 pages of historic photographs and maps of the D&RGW line from Antonito to Chama, New Mexico. That 64-mile line survives, and now operates as the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
