As PRR electrified the Northeast Corridor beginning in 1915, these cars were converted and upgraded into Multiple Unit (MU) electric operation as the MuP-54 fleet. A Combine configuration carries both baggage/mail and passenger seating in a single car, making it essential to PRR’s mixed commuter and mail operations. The car’s distinctive end “porthole” windows are faithfully reproduced on this model.

Model a rare piece of secondary-market commuter history with this highly detailed Con-Cor P-54 Coach lettered for Norfolk & Western. Road number 475 wears Tuscan Red with a black roof — reflecting the cars as they entered service with N&W after being sold off from the Pennsylvania Railroad fleet. As the original description notes, older PRR P-54 cars were sold to other railroads from time to time, and the Norfolk & Western was among the recipients.

The Pennsylvania Railroad began building P-54 commuter cars around 1908, continuing production into the 1930s. Originally designed to run behind steam engines, these cars also ran behind electric and diesel locomotives across their long service lives. When PRR began electrifying the Northeast Corridor in 1915, similar plans gave rise to the famous MuP-54 powered MU cars — but the non-electrified P-54 coaches continued hauling passengers on steam and diesel-powered routes. The car's distinctive end "porthole" windows are faithfully reproduced on this model.

Con-Cor HO Scale MUmP54 – Long Island Rail Road Tichy Scheme

Powered Coach w/White Window Stripe – Car #1505

Prototype History

The MUmP54 (Multiple Unit motor Passenger car, 54 feet) is one of the most iconic electric multiple-unit cars ever operated on the northeastern railroads. Originally built for the Pennsylvania Railroad beginning in 1910 and continuing through the 1930s, these sturdy cars served commuters for decades across the PRR's electrified territory. Many examples were later inherited by Penn Central and eventually found their way into service with the Long Island Rail Road and SEPTA into the early 1970s, making them a staple of the East Coast commuter rail scene.

The Long Island Rail Road operated MUmP54 cars in the classic Tichy Scheme — a striking paint arrangement with a distinctive white window stripe that became synonymous with LIRR commuter service. Car #1505 represents this historical livery in faithful HO scale detail.

The real Patrón Tequila Express rides again, in HO scale.

Car #50 was built in 1927 as a private business car, one of roughly 2,000 made for railroad presidents and industry titans. It later served as the executive car of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio "Rebel Route," and hosted passengers including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Huey P. Long and Clark Gable. After a stint on the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas, the car was bought in 1996 by John Paul DeJoria, co-founder of Patrón Spirits and Paul Mitchell. He poured about $2 million into restoring it as The Patrón Tequila Express.

Today it is one of only about 130 private cars still certified to run behind Amtrak trains. It regularly shows up on the tail end of long-distance trains and at union stations from Chicago to Los Angeles, in Pullman green with gold lettering and the GM&O herald.

This limited special run from Con-Cor captures that paint scheme on a heavyweight solarium-observation car. It is perfect for trailing a modern Amtrak consist, a heritage excursion, or a display shelf.

Con-Cor N Scale GM Aerotrain – Union Pacific 3-Coach Add-On Set

Brand new in box. Con-Cor's N scale Aerotrain has been out of production for years, and factory-new add-on sets are getting hard to find. If you run or collect the Con-Cor Aerotrain, this is your chance to lengthen your consist before these disappear into private collections.

The Prototype

General Motors built the Aerotrain in 1955 as its vision of the future of passenger rail: a low-slung, jet-age streamliner whose coaches were built from GM intercity bus bodies. Union Pacific put it to work in 1956 on the City of Las Vegas between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Its service life was short, but its styling made it one of the most recognizable trains ever built, and a favorite with modelers.

What's Included

• (3) Aerotrain coaches from the Union Pacific release
• N scale (1:160)

Con-Cor N Scale GM Aerotrain 4-Car Set – General Motors Demonstrator

Brand new in box. A complete, ready-to-run N scale Aerotrain in its General Motors demonstrator scheme, the way GM sent it out to sell railroads on the future of passenger travel. Con-Cor's Aerotrain has been out of production for years, and factory-new sets are getting hard to find.

The Prototype

General Motors built the Aerotrain in 1955: a low-slung, jet-age streamliner powered by an LWT12 locomotive, with coaches built from GM's 40-seat intercity bus bodies. GM toured it across the country and loaned it to railroads including Santa Fe, New York Central, Pennsylvania, Rock Island and Union Pacific for testing in 1956 and 1957. It never caught on, but its styling made it one of the most recognizable trains ever built.

Con-Cor N Scale GM Aerotrain 4-Car Set – Santa Fe "San Diegan" 1956

Brand new in box. A complete, ready-to-run N scale Aerotrain representing the train as Santa Fe ran it on the San Diegan in 1956. Con-Cor's Aerotrain has been out of production for years, and factory-new sets are getting hard to find.

The Prototype

General Motors built the Aerotrain in 1955 as its vision of the future of passenger rail: a low-slung, jet-age streamliner powered by an LWT12 locomotive, with coaches built from GM's 40-seat intercity bus bodies. GM loaned it to several railroads for testing, and Santa Fe put it into service in 1956 on the San Diegan between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its service life was short, but its styling made it one of the most recognizable trains ever built.
