Probably the least known and commercialized of the many routes of the vast Southern Pacific system was the San Joaquin Line. Extending 478 miles from Oakland to Los Angeles via Tracy, Fresno and Bakersfield, the route served the rich agricultural area of the San Joaquin Valley. While not having the scenic beauty of the Shasta, Overland and Coast Routes, it did serve as a vital link in the development of southern California.
This all-color book will depict the era from the end of World War II to 1970, a period many consider to be the 'Silver Age of Railroading'. Four Ways West Publications, hardcover, 128 pages, 8.5 x 11 x .5 in., all Color photographs.
