PRODUCT DETAILS

Throughout its history, the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad was known as the 'Little Giant'. The railroad operated 1/10th of one-percent of the nation's rail mileage in 1978, but quite amazingly moved over one percent of the nation's tonnage. This book explores the years of independence of the P&LE from exclusion from Conrail in 1976 to its sale to CSX in 1992.

Chapter One will look at the diesels operated, chapters Two through Four will explore the railroad's main lines and branches from west to east, Chapter Five will cover the four subsidiary roads owned by the P&LE and finally in Chapter Six the railroad's trackage rights will be detailed.

Volume Two will cover the P&LE and its subsidiaries during the years of New York Central control.

Hardcover with dust jacket, 128 pages, 8.5 x 11 in., Color photographs with captions.
