Southern Pacific In Color Volume 3: Classic Scarlet DISCONTINUED WHEN SOLD OUT

In 1958 the Southern Pacific abandoned its Black Widow freight livery and colorful Daylight passenger livery in favor of a more economical paint scheme of Lark gray and scarlet for all power. Coinciding within a few months of the image change was the end of the first-generation of dieseldom, even though that particular phrase had not yet been coined. The first diesels to also be delivered in the new livery were also SPs first low-nose hood units. The book picks up the story of SPs diesel power where Southern Pacific in Color Volume 2 left off.
