Road number 475 wears Tuscan Red with a black roof — reflecting the cars as they entered service with N&W after being sold off from the Pennsylvania Railroad fleet. As the original description notes, older PRR P-54 cars were sold to other railroads from time to time, and the Norfolk & Western was among the recipients.

The Pennsylvania Railroad began building P-54 commuter cars around 1908, continuing production into the 1930s. Originally designed to run behind steam engines, these cars also ran behind electric and diesel locomotives across their long service lives. When PRR began electrifying the Northeast Corridor in 1915, similar plans gave rise to the famous MuP-54 powered MU cars — but the non-electrified P-54 coaches continued hauling passengers on steam and diesel-powered routes. The car's distinctive end "porthole" windows are faithfully reproduced on this model.

Con-Cor's HO scale model is built from the 65-foot prototype and runs easily on 18-inch radius curves — no need for the 24–26-inch minimum required by full 85-foot passenger cars from other manufacturers.
