Rapido's HO scale Pacific Car & Foundry B-100-40 "Half-Waffle" Boxcar in Southern Pacific as-delivered paint. Pacific Car & Foundry built 250 of these distinctive cars exclusively for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1976. Never before produced in HO scale prior to Rapido's release, these cars are a must for SP modelers and fans of the transition era.

Prototype: Built by Pacific Car & Foundry in 1976, the B-100-40 featured 5,195 cu. ft. of carrying capacity, a full Hydra-Cushion underframe, 12-foot wide plug doors, Car Pac loaders, and the iconic half-height waffle sides. Used across the SP system, these boxcars ran throughout the USA and into Canada and Mexico. Most of the series remain in service today under Union Pacific or short line operators.
