PRODUCT DETAILS
This volume has great photographs of the early diesel locomotives produced by all of the builders of the era. It's amazing a regional railroad as the Chicago & North Western had such a diverse roster. Many of the photographs include locomotives still painted in their original owners paint such as the Chicago Great Western (ALCOs and Baldwins), Minneapolis & St. Louis (ALCOs) and former Missouri-Kansas-Texas EMD re-powered Baldwins. Some photographs show off fresh paint, most show lots of wear and dirt.
This continued coverage of Chicago & North Western's motive power fleet examines switchers and first-generation Road-Switchers built by ALCO, Baldwin, Fairbanks-Morse, General Electric, and Whitcomb, as well as yard and road slugs.
