Brand new in box. A complete, ready-to-run N scale Aerotrain representing the train as Santa Fe ran it on the San Diegan in 1956. Con-Cor's Aerotrain has been out of production for years, and factory-new sets are getting hard to find.

The Prototype

General Motors built the Aerotrain in 1955 as its vision of the future of passenger rail: a low-slung, jet-age streamliner powered by an LWT12 locomotive, with coaches built from GM's 40-seat intercity bus bodies. GM loaned it to several railroads for testing, and Santa Fe put it into service in 1956 on the San Diegan between Los Angeles and San Diego. Its service life was short, but its styling made it one of the most recognizable trains ever built.
