HO Scale Patrón Tequila Express #50 Private Observation Car – Con-Cor 223-94436 Limited Run

The real Patrón Tequila Express rides again, in HO scale.

Car #50 was built in 1927 as a private business car, one of roughly 2,000 made for railroad presidents and industry titans. It later served as the executive car of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio "Rebel Route," and hosted passengers including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Huey P. Long and Clark Gable. After a stint on the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas, the car was bought in 1996 by John Paul DeJoria, co-founder of Patrón Spirits and Paul Mitchell. He poured about $2 million into restoring it as The Patrón Tequila Express.

Today it is one of only about 130 private cars still certified to run behind Amtrak trains. It regularly shows up on the tail end of long-distance trains and at union stations from Chicago to Los Angeles, in Pullman green with gold lettering and the GM&O herald.

This limited special run from Con-Cor captures that paint scheme on a heavyweight solarium-observation car. It is perfect for trailing a modern Amtrak consist, a heritage excursion, or a display shelf.
