12A6-2 Engines

The Estes 1/2A6‑2 engine is a single-stage, standard 18 mm engine tailored for rockets weighing under 2 oz (57 g) including engine—perfect for lightweight beginner models and small-field flights. Each package includes three engines, four igniters, and four starter plugs, so you’re ready to launch multiple rockets straight out of the box.

With a total impulse of 1.25 N‑s, a peak thrust of 8.90 N (2.0 lb), and a brief thrust duration of just 0.30 s, the 1/2A6‑2 delivers smooth yet dependable lift-off for small-scale rockets. After engine burn-out, the 2-second delay allows the rocket to coast to apogee before ejection, producing a controlled and safe recovery without overstressing your model.

Measuring 2.75″ in length and sized at 18 mm diameter, this engine complements a wide range of Estes beginner kits like Alpha III®, Hi‑Flier®, Wizard™, and Astron Constellation™, providing ideal performance for short to moderate altitude launches. At only 0.48 oz (13.6 g) with 0.10 oz (2.7 g) of propellant, it offers a well-balanced thrust-to-weight ratio for stable flight dynamics.

Perfect for educational use, backyard launches, and STEM programming, the 1/2A6‑2 is a trusted engine that consistently delivers repeatable results. Its combination of modest power, simplicity, and high reliability continues the Estes legacy of making model rocketry accessible and fun for all levels of rocketeers.
